Recycling
Recycling and Other Resources
Recycling is complex and often misunderstood. It involves a variety of methodologies – including reuse, repurposing, waste reduction, and composting – that are implemented in different ways in different communities. Recycling is also dependent upon the demand for recycled materials, which varies with fluctuating market conditions. Also, while current technologies limit some of our abilities to recycle (e.g., plastics), developing technologies will expand these capacities, thereby increasing demand for recycled materials.
Despite the complexities, the benefits of recycling are highly desirable for individuals and communities. And, the planet as a whole cannot sustain our current rate of growth and production of waste.
Materials and methods for recycling in Ogden Dunes are detailed below on a continuum from the most immediate to the most distant.
- Schedule of Curbside Recycling in Ogden Dunes
- Suitable Materials And Methods are dictated by Homewood Disposal, which processes our curbside recyclables.
- Items smaller than a credit card falls through conveyors, which is why caps should be placed on bottles and shredded paper is not suitable for recycling.
- All recyclables should be loose and unbagged and/or bagged in paper.
- Composting is one of the most powerful, yet simple activities via which each household can contribute to improving our environments locally and globally.
