Originally from Lake County, IN, Karl Krizmanic moved to Ogden Dunes more than 35 years ago to raise his family and has enjoyed the community ever since. He loves the town, the people and our natural surroundings on Lake Michigan. “We’re in an urban park here in OD and I feel we have a responsibility to be stewards of this land,” he said, adding, “I have been impressed with the talented, professional neighbors we have here, and would like to see more community members get involved with our town’s stewardship. At the first town council meeting of 2021, Karl said he is committed to keeping the town safe, focusing on the town budget and enhancing our natural setting.

Retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 697, Karl is a big promoter of the trades and their apprenticeship programs. A Bishop Noll graduate, he worked his way up from motor inspector with Purdue/Inland Steel, completed the four-year apprenticeship program at Local 697, became Business Agent, then Regional Director for NW Indiana’s Building Trades Program. Karl represented Ivy Tech in a School-to-Work program, served on the Boards of the Porter and Lake County Workforce Investment, the East Chicago Youth Government and Building Trades Partnership, represented the National Electrical Contractors for 6 years in a coordinated marketing and advertising effort.  Karl was the founding member and charter chairman of the Ogden Dunes Community Fund. Karl’s wife, Kristine Sandrick, has been trying to turn “jungle” into garden at their house on Cedar Trail where they live with Aw’gy – their awesome doggy.
