About Ogden Dunes

The town of Ogden Dunes is a small lakeside residential community located in Porter County, Indiana. This beach community is known for its coastal Lake Michigan ambiance nestled within the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Ogden Dunes is named for Francis A. Ogden, who owned the land before his death in 1914. The town was incorporated in 1925 and now accommodates approximately 600 homes and has a population of 1,200 residents.

During the 1920’s Ogden Dunes was the home of a large ski jump which was used for training Olympic ski jumpers. The hilly landscape continues to be used for training local athletes today.

Ogden Dunes is the birthplace of the “Save the Dunes Council.” This group of distinguished individuals dedicated their efforts to preserving the environment of Northwest Indiana.
