The officers and employees of the Ogden Dunes Police Department are committed to providing quality and professional police service to the residents of Ogden Dunes, Indiana which promotes a safe and secure community to live in. Our commitment to serve the community remains foremost as we carry out our daily duties. We are constantly striving to build our police-community relationships in an effort to improve the quality of life for our residents. We believe that the safety of our residents and crime reduction can be better met when the police department and community work together.

Our department also recognizes that its employees are a vital part of the police services that we provide to the community. We will continue to strive for the highest potential from our employees in an effort to provide the best police service possible. Our pledge to the community is to continually strive to achieve these goals and to promote an organization based on excellence.

Service

The Ogden Dunes Police Department provides 24-hour coverage 7 days a week to the citizens of Ogden Dunes and handles hundreds of calls for service annually. The Department is staffed with 4 full-time and 10 part-time sworn police officers, comprising over 75 years of combined Law Enforcement Experience, the full-time officers are supplemented by a group of part-time officers as well as a very active volunteer Reserve Officer Program.

Mission

To serve and protect the community by preserving the peace, providing rapid response to emergency situations, and deterring crime through prevention, education, enforcement and apprehension of law violators; utilizing available resources in an effective manner; applying moral, ethical, legal, and professional standards, while being responsive to the community, as well as employee needs.

History

Established in 1925, the Ogden Dunes Police Department has grown with the community and now has dedicated itself with programs such as Neighborhood Watch, Community Policing Practices, Social Media and other crime prevention initiatives. We also work closely with our neighboring departments to make the region as crime-free as possible.
