Board of Zoning Appeals

Mission

To preserve and promote the public health, convenience, morals, safety, comfort, prosperity and general welfare of town residents; and for the following more specific purposes:

  • To implement the master plan.
  • To protect the character and stability of residential, commercial and recreational areas; To promote the orderly development of such areas; and to preserve the natural beauty within the Town.
  • To provide adequate and convenient open spaces for traffic, utilities, access of fire fighting apparatus, recreation, light, air, and for the avoidance of congestion of population;
  • To facilitate the adequate but economical provisions of public improvements;
  • To classify, regulate and limit the location, height, area, bulk and use of buildings and/or land within the town;
  • To guide and regulate future growth and development of the town for the benefit of its citizens.

Meetings

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets monthly. Please check the Public Event Calendar for official meeting dates and locations.

Members

Members of the committee are appointed by the Town Council President and a liaison from the Plan Commission. Each term is for four years. Appointments shall be staggered so that appointments expire in successive years. No political affiliation rule applicable to the Board of Zoning Appeals Advisory Committee for Ogden Dunes.
