Historical Society Statement Regarding Support for Ogden Dunes Restore the Shore Campaign
Generally, HSOD individual board members support individuals in their efforts to “restore the shore" and praise the efforts of those working on the complex dimensions of the project. We respect the choices residents make in determining their own contributions to the project and acknowledge the town's suggested contribution levels.
The Restore the Shore Campaign
What better way for all than to support a community effort to save our beach. The funds are supporting legal and regulatory issues that will (1) maintain and enhance our shore protection system (in progress), (2) provide some near-term sand restoration (coming soon) for a more normal beach and (3) develop and implement a long-term plan for a natural and substantive beach with the army corps of engineers.
All homeowners are asked to contribute as they can. It is suggested $2500.00 for those on the shore, $1000.00 for those on the south side of Shore Drive and $300.00 for those in town. Make checks out to the town of Ogden Dunes and note “Restore the Shore” on the memo line. Contributions are tax deductible.
