Ogden Dunes is located at 41°37′27″N 87°11′29″W (41.624250, -87.191338)

The town has a total area of 1.46 square miles (3.8 km2), of which 0.74 square miles (1.9 km2) (or 50.68%) is land and 0.72 square miles (1.9 km2) (or 49.32%) is water.

Ogden Dunes is located in Portage Township, one of twelve townships in Porter County, Indiana. The largest community in the township is the city of Portage (roughly 36,000 people).

The Town of Ogden Dunes does not have a grocery store, post office, restaurants, etc. Primarily a residential community, Ogden Dunes aims to protect the ambiance of its beach community roots and provide an elevated quality of living. The neighborhood does possess one gas station & convenience store on the south side of town (Marathon Oil).

Neighboring Ogden Dunes are several similar neighborhoods, such as Miller Beach, Beverly Shores and Dune Acres. Like Ogden Dunes, these beach communities are surrounded by the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Ogden Dunes and Dune Acres have the illusion of being gated communities due to the single road entrance/exit access routes, but in reality the communities are open to all.
