Centennial Updates
Hello Friends and Supporters,
Thank you all for making the Ogden Dunes Centennial Kick-off Fundraiser a great success. Attended by over 300 residents and friends, new and old residents joined together to express their love and support for the town.
We now have funding for much of our 2025 Centennial events and prizes to be featured at each of the following town events next year:
- The Polar Bear Plunge into Lake Michigan on January 1st with the addition of warm beverages and refreshments.
- The inauguration of the Historical Trail in April with tours of important historic sites in town that will be permanently marked.
- The Lions Club Memorial Day Celebration will be bigger and better than ever with the addition of floats and the opening of the Time Capsule by the Historical Society.
- An architectural tour of significant Ogden Dunes homes with refreshments sales of commemorative and Historical society merchandise on Summer Solstice (June 21st)
- The Woman’s Club Sandcastle Contest will start off the Fourth of July with fun at the beach, ending with fireworks.
- A centennial-themed Fireman’s Ball on July 26th.
- On August 15th, Ogden Dunes’ 100th birthday, will be honored with a children’s play written and directed by local residents with a local cast. Birthday Cake, too!
- And to culminate the celebration, a Labor Day Welcome Back Weekend to include a Reggae Party on the beach with Jamaican food and beverages; activities at Kratz Field; and a sleepover on the beach.
We are also planning a summer concert by the Bergamot; the opening and dedication of the new pavilion at Kratz Field, a family scavenger hunt and more. We plan to offer our poster, notecards, t-shirts and other merchandise throughout the year.
This exciting year is possible because of the donations from our supporters, the sales of merchandise and the hard work of the Centennial Committee and the volunteers who have planned these activities. This includes the Historical Society, Lions Club, Women’s Club, Police Department, Volunteer Fire Department and the Town.
Over the years, life on the lake has been pretty great, and 2025 will be one of the best yet!!
