PSA: Plastic Bags Need to be Omitted from Recycling Bins

Residents: please see this article about plastic bags from the Chicago Tribune. Plastic bags are not to be placed in recycling bins as they cause problems in the sorting facility.

Plastic bags can be recycled at most local grocery stores. Plastic bags can be taken to Town & Country, Jewel-Osco, Meijer, Lowes, Walmart, and Kohls, locally. List of appropriate recyclable plastic bags

Which wraps and film can be recycled and which can’t?

Please DO recycle:
  • Grocery & retail bags
  • Newspaper bags
  • The outer Wrapping from Napkins, Paper Towels, Bathroom Tissue & Diapers
  • Bread bags
  • Dry cleaning bags
  • The outer wrapping from bulk beverages
  • Produce bags
  • All clean, dry bags Labeled #2 or #4
Please DO NOT recycle:
  • Food or cling wrap
  • Prepackaged food bags (including frozen food bags and pre-washed salad bags)
  • Plastic Film That has Been Painted or has Excessive Glue Residue
